Buttons have been around for hundreds if years, they have changed with fashion, they have been made of every natural and manmade material, like bone, shell, wood, metal, glass, china, plastic. Having a family button tin was normal. I would love to hear stories of those buttons. My Nanna had a concertina box on legs that had ribbons, lace buttons I loved sorting it
